Carilion Clinic is seeking an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to support the continued growth and expansion of heart failure services at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH), a 703-bed Level 1 Trauma, Academic, and Tertiary Care Center serving nearly one million residents of southwestern Virginia.

This position offers the opportunity to join a nationally recognized regional cardiovascular network with an established and growing Section of Cardiology supported by a strong primary care and specialty referral base.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive advanced heart failure care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, including management of patients requiring temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices. As a key member of the Heart Failure team, the physician will contribute to the ongoing development of the Heart Failure Program with a focus on improving patient access and expanding services for a complex, high-acuity patient population.

Academic & Teaching Responsibilities

Formal and bedside teaching of cardiology fellows, internal medicine residents, and other learners is a core component of this academic role. Participation in clinical research is encouraged and supported through Carilion Clinic and its academic partners.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

In July 2025, Carilion Clinic opened the Crystal Spring Tower, a 500,000+ square-foot expansion housing the Cardiovascular Institute and an expanded Emergency Department, featuring:

• 3 Cardiovascular Operating Rooms
• 2 Endovascular Operating Rooms
• 2 General Vascular Operating Rooms
• 6 Cardiac Catheterization Labs
• 3 Electrophysiology Labs
• 76 ICU and Progressive Care inpatient rooms
• 46 Pre- and Post-Care rooms
• 5 Trauma bays (including the region’s only dedicated pediatric bay)
• 95 Dedicated Emergency Department beds
• 40-bed Emergency Department Observation Unit

The Heart Failure Clinic, located within the Crystal Spring Tower, includes expanded exam rooms, an outpatient infusion suite, dedicated physician and APP offices, and a conference room designed for multidisciplinary collaboration.

Salary:

Minimum: $521,000

Maximum: $672,000

The posted salary range may not reflect the full value of the total compensation package. You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.

Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary . In addition, comprehensive benefits and pension offerings further enhance the overall rewards package.

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Cardiology
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation
